One of the hardest things we all face one time or another in our lives is the art of letting go. Letting go of anger, hurts, that stubborn extra 5 pounds, disappointments, relationships, the way we think things are suppose to be….. The list goes on and on and on.
Where is the love for ourselves in the midst of all this ‘Stuff’ we are holding onto? In fact the state of pure love is free, spacious, supportive and energetic. Do you remember the first time you fell in love? I do and it was absolutely Euphoric; I felt like anything was possible and there was more than enough of everything: love, bliss, money, time, creativity, etc.. Yet the balance of not completely losing yourself is the ultimate task within this state of bliss.
Falling in love with ourselves is just as important as falling in love with someone else. In fact what if this state of deep love was attainable and sustainable throughout our lives in everything that we do?
Can you imagine the sense of empowerment, peace and rejuvenation you can feel?
Several years ago I found myself ‘holding’ on to everything… Not only for myself but for others around me as well. It was utterly exhausting. I held onto all the worries, stresses, feelings, problems and everything in between. These heavy thoughts and situations found me feeling very tired, less than happy and content and had me feeling isolated. I felt like my purpose was to only please others; do for everyone else and just carry the worlds problems, with little regard to myself.
I began to learn the value of the relationship of loving yourself and the art of letting go. I often told myself that I must know better intellectually because I was raised with more awareness and understanding than this. I truly believed this at the time. On the outside my life to others seemed to be in balance and together. However on the inside I was deeply unhappy, running on adrenaline to have enough energy for my overbooked schedule and feeling deeply conflicted.
This began to manifest physically with symptoms and that for me was one of the big wake up calls I have had in my life. Day in and day out I gave advice to others about balance, health, wholeness yet here I was not living up to my advice. I could not bare the idea that I was not living up to my own advice.
All the advice I was giving my clients and patients over the years was helping them live these incredible lives and experiences on the inside and outside, I was totally inspired. So I began to follow my own advice and made it my way of living too. I began to make immediate changes, baby steps at first, step by step.
It was amazing to see the transformations in all areas of my life one by one everything started to change: relationships, career, health, communications, my dreams, success and most importantly a true love of life itself. That same euphoric feeling was and has been consistently present in every business meeting, life decision, travel experience, in relationship…. and really in every aspect of life. It has given me an abundance of energy, enjoyment and a deep sense of purpose in life.
